When My Baby Is Buggy was born...
Years ago, when I was perhaps eleven or twelve, my daddy drew me a little cartoon of a ladybug pushing a baby carriage, and the caption read: "My Baby is Buggy." I loved that sweet little scrap of paper and saved it for years, but alas, somewhere along the way that tiny piece of history disappeared. I imagine that my dad's 'Mrs. Ladybug' may have been the catalyst for one of my most fulfilling occupations: Illustrator and maker of tiny things.

The Silver Lining
This was me early this morning. And then later. And at noon. And on into the afternoon. A pulsing, pounding, wretched headache. Pain relievers didn't touch it. The medicinal chocolate shake that usually works... didn't (thank you anyway, sweet hubby!), and the other usual remedy, salty McD's fries, didn't dull the throbbing pain either. And it's dark and rainy outside to boot. So I lay there with a pillow wrapped around my head to block out the light, and listen to the soft tap-tap of my hubby working at his computer. Among the thousands of other thoughts swirling in my bruised brain, I think about what in the world I might make my little niece Teigy for her 3rd birthday. And at some unknown point, I fall asleep. It is a brief sleep, but it seems to have done the trick. Throbbing gone, stabbing pain just a (bad) memory... and it has stopped raining. Suddenly the skies are blue again, the birds have returned to their post at my window singing, and all of nature is fresh and clean. And I have an idea for a little gift for Teigs, which I will post as soon as I make it! Life is good!

I hate it that you always get these nasty headaches! If only the fries and shakes would help every time!
ReplyDeleteThis was a major, which I rarely get... usually the shake & fries works :)
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see what you planned for Teigs gift!! Sorry about the headache. Remember when we drove buses in Hesperia, CA. and the headaches we got? Tell me it wasn't that bad!!
ReplyDeleteNicki..... ..
Wanted to ask what you used to paint the jars, was it water proof? I love jars!
ReplyDeleteN..... ..
Paint the jars? Those are just little flowers in each jar, if that is what yu are talking about :)
ReplyDeleteSheri, have you tried eliminating diet sodas (I'm assuming you drink them due to your mosaic can artwork post). There have been studies done on people who have regular/chronic headache trouble, and when diet (and also regular sodas, but mostly the diet ones) have been eliminated completely from their diets, they have significant decrease in the amount of headaches they have, and most of them no longer have them at all! Worth a try, maybe?
ReplyDeleteP.S. I'm so sorry you have these awful headaches. I get them if I eat too much sugar or don't get enough sleep, and they are the worst when it is a combination of the two 'evils', and I know how paralyzing they can be :O(
ReplyDeleteSusan, I don't drink caffeine, except a cup o' coffee in the morning... I believe it is sinus & allergies. I probably overstated the problem by drawing the scary green face :)
