This little guy sat quietly on the wire for at least 5 minutes. He stretched and closed his eyes and looked every bit as though he was "working on his tan"! After this, a nice, long sip from the hummer feeder (I have to keep it well stocked as I now have them completely addicted... moooooaahhaaaa), and then off to touch base with a few local flowers. What a life!
When My Baby Is Buggy was born...
Years ago, when I was perhaps eleven or twelve, my daddy drew me a little cartoon of a ladybug pushing a baby carriage, and the caption read: "My Baby is Buggy." I loved that sweet little scrap of paper and saved it for years, but alas, somewhere along the way that tiny piece of history disappeared. I imagine that my dad's 'Mrs. Ladybug' may have been the catalyst for one of my most fulfilling occupations: Illustrator and maker of tiny things.

What a Life is right! It never ceases to amaze me how our Hummers here in the desert survive but I guess their little flapping wings are their own portable air conditioning!
